The wireless technology has become a key element of the IP networks. The term “wireless” indicates the use of digital radio transmission, on ISM (Industrial, Scientific, Medical) bands, for the connection of devices (computer or other).

You can find widespread applications within buildings (wi-fi LAN) or in limited areas, maybe through a public access point (Hot-Spot).

Wireless networks have a particular relevance covering wide areas: they make available the “broadband” for territories with low density of inhabitants where there is no economic sustainability of the “cabled” model (xDSL - copper or FTTH - optical fibre): wireless networks against the digital divide in the “market failure” areas.

Wireless networks enable groundbreaking services, ranging from the video surveillance to the environment monitoring, from the elderly people remote assistance to the tele-medicine. Our technological offer covers these issues at every scale, deploying sophisticated multi-vendor networks, in a true mash and (multi) point-multipoint architecture.

Starting with our first designs and installations of point-to-point systems at the end of the 1990’s, we have acquired great experience and specific know-how.

Satellite

Even where the “terrestrial” broadband is not available, it is possible to create a wireless broadband network in extended areas, using the satellite technology integrated with terrestrial wireless networks.

On this model (“satellite meshed technology”), AFA Systems is able to activate and spread satellite IP connection to the Internet, even in the most remote areas (from rural areas to offshore rigs).

With a very fast activation time and a low investment, the result is surprising in terms of connection speed and reliability, thanks to the proven satellite operators and the IP optimising techniques we adopt. The satellite meshed technology allows to quickly cover with a broadband network the digital divide territories (the inner and rural areas).

As a result of a the technical collaboration with Eutelsat SA – one of the major satellite operators – AFA Systems completes its satellite proposal with the MajorSAT device, that enriches the user experience through IP caching and optimising techniques.
